FELIPE LABANDELO LABO "PHILIP", 82, of Crisfield, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore following a sudden illness.
Born in Manila, Philippines, he was a son of the late Faustino Laguador Labo and Esquiela Labandelo Labo. His wife of 55 years, Geraldine Frances McCready Labo, preceded him in death January 11, 2005.
Mr. Labo was a US Navy veteran who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, retiring after 20 years of service in 1966.
He also was employed with Rubberset Corp. and Chris-Craft.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved his pet dogs and cats and enjoyed feeding seagulls, fixing TV's, and boxing. He was also a boxer in the Navy.
He is survived by six children, Philip Labo (Danielle Lynn), Pansy Rayfield, Wayne Labo (Debbie), Monte Labo, (Mary), Mark Labo (Linda), and Duane Labo (Gayle Marshall), all of Crisfield; 12 grandchildren, Andrea Connell, Philip Labo, III "Moose", Maria Nelson, Krista Labo, Warner Rayfield, Jr., Scott Lee Rayfield, Jordan Wayne Labo, Jr., Joshua Labo, Rachel Labo, Jessica Lynn Labo, Mark Labo, Jr., and Kellie Labo; 16 great-grandchildren, Kendra Connell, Cubby Connell, John Philip Connell, Tiffany Labo, Philip Labo, IV "Moosie", Victoria Labo, "Peanut" Messick, Storm Messick, Noah Nelson, Kris Somers, Kayla Somers, Kamryn Somers, Aireana Rayfield, Megan Rayfield, Jacqueline Labo, and Lindsay Labo; one great-great granddaughter, Kayden Somers; his brothers and sisters, Liguya Labo Sobreo, Batriz Labo Dizon, Teodoro Labo, Magdalena Labo Fabunan, Luz Labo Silvestre, Francisca Labo Elefante, and Francilito Labo; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Warner Rayfield; two grandchildren, Rebekah Labo and Michael Ryan Labo; and his sister and brothers, Dolores Labo Delacruz, Avelino Labo and Ananatalio Labo.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home, where friends may call from 12 to 2 PM. Father William Porter, Rev. Jerry Hughes, and Rev. Robert Daniels will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park where military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Navy.
