Obituary

Evelyn Mae Corbin, 84, of Crisfield and formerly of Tylerton, Smith Island, died Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.

Born December 7, 1932 on Tangier Island, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Ewell and Gladys Crockett Laird. Her husband of 66 years, Leslie H. Corbin, died May 22, 2013.

She was a homemaker and co-owner of L. Corbin & Sons Seafood and Mazie's Rentals. She also was a cafeteria worker for Somerset County Schools for five years.

She was a member of Union United Methodist Church on Tylerton where she was active in the UMW. She also occasionally sang in the Smith Island Ladies Quartet. While living in Crisfield, she was a member and choir director of the Somerset Free Methodist Church.

A great cook, she loved cooking for family gatherings and spending quality time with her family.

A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, she is survived by three sons, Michael B. Corbin and wife Della, David E. Corbin and wife Becky, and Steven S. Corbin and wife Susan, all of Crisfield; daughter-in-law, Sharon Corbin of Crisfield; eight grandchildren, Donna Rae Cannon and husband Cookie, Micah B. Corbin and wife Trish, Megan Haley Paparatti and husband Luca, Rebecca A. Corbin Taylor and husband Chuck, Jordan D. Corbin, Victoria Grace Gray and husband Walt, Amy E. Corbin, and Quincy S. Corbin; six great-grandchildren, Donald James Cannon, Riley Shae Corbin, Mason Elliott Gray, Logan Andrew Stephenson, Giovanni Michele Paparatti, and Bella Noelle Taylor; a brother, Charles Massey Laird and wife Linda of Crisfield; a sister, Judy Faye Schoffstall and husband Woody of Crisfield; an aunt, Elsie Smith of Delaware; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, the Rev. Donald S. Corbin in 1985, and Leslie M. Corbin in 1975.

Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Jim Evans will be Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 3 PM at Somerset Free Methodist Church where a viewing will be from 1:30 until 3. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
