Obituary

EULA NEWTON SPARKS, 72, of Crisfield for the past five years and formerly of Valls Creek, West Virginia, died Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born on April 8, 1937 in Duffield, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Myrtle Vaughn Carter. Her husband, Gratton Sparks, died June 30, 1998.

She is survived by seven children, Carl Sparks of King George, VA, Wilma Fries and husband Rick of Bealeton, VA, Patricia Price of Valls Creek, WV, Sharon Macneal and husband David of Crisfield, Carol Parks of Abbottstown, PA, Sheila Knee of Felton, PA and Gratton Sparks, Jr. of York, PA; six brothers and sisters, Bob Carter of Delta, PA, Florence Boyd of Woodford, VA, Lee Carter of Broque, PA, Betty Jo Windon of Fawn Grove, PA, Benny Carter of Siloam, NC and Judy Beavers of Aminota, WV; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Coy Carter.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call two hours prior to the service. The Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate. Urn interment will be held at a later date in Bluefield, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are requested to be sent to Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad, LSCARS, P.O. Box 406, Crisfield, Maryland 21817.
