Eugene Carl Scurti, 74, of Crisfield, died Monday, April 3, 2017 at PRMC.

Born in Wilmington, DE on February 27, 1943, he was a son of the late John Scurti and Victoria Tarr Caldwell.

At the time of his death he was employed by the Chelsea Lane Tyler passenger vessel. He enjoyed fishing and helping with the Smith Island school boat. He became like a father and grandfather to many in Crisfield and Smith Island. He was a US Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War era and was a member of the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion in Crisfield.

He is survived by four sons, Jay Scurti, Jeff Scurti and wife Jodi, Joey Scurti, and Joel Scurti and wife Beth; five grandchildren, Nicole Papili, Joel Scurti, Jr., Miranda Scurti, Rachel Scurti, and Samantha Scurti; two great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Madison Papili; one great-grandchild to be born in October 2017; an aunt, Grace Nichols; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Scurti.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to the American Legion Post #16, Alan Wade Tyler, Tracy Howard, and NRP Jim Beverage for their help during this difficult time.

A memorial service with military honors will be held Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 2 PM at American Legion Post #16 in Crisfield. Urn interment will be at a later date in the American Legion Cemetery.
