Ethel B. Pusey Tawes, 88, of Melfa, VA and formerly of Salisbury, MD and Crisfield, MD, died Sunday, July 21, 2019 at her home.

She was born in Salisbury July 20, 1931, and was raised in Crisfield. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Wanita Trammel Pusey.  Her husband, Jay M. Tawes, preceded her in death May 27, 1999.

Mrs. Tawes was a seamstress, interior decorator and a gifted artist.  She was a member of St. John's U. M. Church in Fruitland and attended Melfa U. M. Church.  She also taught the nursery Sunday School class at Immanuel Baptist Church in Salisbury for 17 years.  In addition, she was a member of the Fruitland Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Turlington and husband Steve of Melfa; grandchildren, Amy Booker of Melfa and Rob Price and wife Beth of Pocomoke; and five great-grandchildren, Brianna, Emma, Isabella, Hildie, and Jaxon.  She is also survived by nieces, Elaine, Debbie, and Donna; the family of Fred Pusey, III, Bruce Pusey, Pam Russo and family, and Tim and Val Howard and family.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her best buddies, Fay and Charles Howard.

A private family graveside service and celebration of her life was held Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
