Obituary

Essie Collins Landon, 94, of Crisfield, died Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Aurora Senior Living in Princess Anne.

Born in Crisfield on March 16, 1920, she was a daughter of the late George and Blanche Brittingham Collins.

She was a former seamstress at local clothing factories and later retired from Rubberset Corporation. She was a member of Somerset Free Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and enjoyed singing duets with her husband. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting.

She is survived by two children, Jerry Byrd and wife Mariellen of Salisbury and Virginia Tyler and husband Harvey of Pocomoke City; six grandchildren, Veronica Byrd, Vonnie Riley and husband Robert, Mary Mullins and husband Bryan, Mark Tyler and wife Jodi, Matthew Tyler and Michael Tyler; five great-grandchildren, Dana, Sophia, and Noah Tyler, and Joseph and Jerry Kemp; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Byrd; her second husband, Leroy J. Landon; and her sisters and brothers, Lilly Morgan, Ernest Collins, Louise Collins, Nellie Parks, Alice Dize and George Collins.

Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Bob Daniels will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home. There will be no public viewing. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
