Ervina Patterson White, 85, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 in Petersburg, VA.
Born in New York City, New York on August 28, 1931, she was the only child of Anne Hauer Patterson and Ervin Milton Patterson, both of New York City.
She attended Washington Irving High School in that city, and graduated from New York University in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. On February 20, 1951, she married Eugene White, III of Tarrytown New York, in the First Presbyterian Church, New York City.
Over the years, they made their homes in different cities due to Mr. White's work, and a family was raised. In 1973, Mrs. White joined the Central National Bank in Richmond, Virginia where she became Manager of the Wire Transfer Department. In 1979, she joined S.W.I.F.T., a Belgian based international banking telecommunications company, the United States center of which was based in Culpeper, Virginia, and became Manager of the U.S. Customer Service Department. Upon retirement in 1994, Mr. and Mrs. White moved to Crisfield, Maryland and truly enjoyed their time there together. Mr. White died in 2003.
Mrs. White was a faithful member of St. Paul's Church in Marion Station serving on the Vestry and Altar Guild, and having taught Sunday School. She had been Health Chairman of the local AARP Chapter and Chaplain of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #16 in Crisfield.
She is survived by her beloved children, Elizabeth Anne White of Bryan, Texas, Mary Rebecca and her husband. A. Lewis Graninger, Jr. of Richmond, VA, Ervin Hazelwood White of Richmond, VA, and Thomas Randolph White and his wife May, of Las Vegas, NV; three grandsons, Christopher Thomas White, Thomas Randolph White, Jr., and A. Lewis Graninger, III and his wife, Nicole; and a great-granddaughter, Corabelle Aurelia Graninger.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her third daughter, Amy Alexandra Fordham White Levinson.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Marion Station on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 12 PM. An urn burial will follow at St. Paul's Episcopal Cemetery. Father Michael Lokey will officiate.
