Emma Sue Kato, 82, of Crisfield and formerly of Tangier, died Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Anchorage Nursing Home in Salisbury.
Born on Tangier Island April 12, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ashby and Estell M. Shores Crockett. Her husband of 52 years, Mikio Kato, died November 24, 2009.
A graduate of Tangier High School, she was a doctor's assistant at her husband's practice. She was also a member of Swain Memorial United Methodist Church and had a great love for cats.
She is survived by cousins, Nellie Pruitt Jones, Perry Crockett, and Marian Sue Carson, all of Crisfield, Sandy Wheatley and Jeff Crockett, both of Tangier, and Edith Bestry of Florida; her caregiver, Mary Labo of Crisfield; and several other cousins.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Ashby Crockett, Jr., William Wesley "Kip" Crockett, and William Kelso Crockett.
A memorial service officiated by Mr. Denny Crockett will be Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 10 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. Interment will be at a later date in Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
