Obituary

Emma W. Daugherty, 102, of Crisfield, died Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.

Born in Deal Island on October 11, 1912, she was a daughter of the late David and Eleanor Webster Horner. According to her family Bible, her birth year is recorded as 1911, which would have actually made her 103 years of age. Her husband, Charles Luther Daugherty died January 16, 1972.

A retired cafeteria worker in the Somerset County School System, she was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church and was active in the UMW. She was also an avid BINGO player.

She is survived by two sons-in-law who loved and respected her dearly, Donald W. Kelley and his wife Pat of Crisfield and Phillip Gerald of Crisfield; two God-children, Cheryl Tyler and her family of Salisbury and Tina Sterling and her family of Dallas, TX; three nieces, Chris Wade of Red Lion, PA, Kathy Bogert of Reisterstown, MD, and Lyn Bogert of Ijamsville, MD; and one nephew, Jerry Hilton of Bowling Green, KY.

Along with her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by three daughters, Emma Jean Gerald, Nancy J. Daniels, and Peggy (Charlene) Kelley; a sister, Mollie Stepford; a brother, David Horner; and a son-in-law, William Daniels.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be one hour prior. The Reverends Philip Morris and Harvey Tyler will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad, LSCARS, P.O. Box 406; or Tawes Nursing Home Activities Fund, 201 Hall Highway; both Crisfield, MD 21817.
