Emily P. Sterling, 93, of Crisfield, died Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.

Born in Crisfield on July 7, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Elwood and Ruby Adams Matthews.

A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1943, she was a sales clerk for many years at McCrory's until they closed.

She was a member of Crisfield First Baptist Church and she loved to read.

She is survived by her husband, John Henry Sterling; her niece, Diana Johnson and husband CB; nephews, Jimmy Matthews and Ronnie Matthews; great-niece, Angela Jones; great-great-niece and nephew, Rebeca Jones and Johnathan Wright; and her special friends, Mike and Della Corbin and family, Myrna Humphreys, Sharon Dorman, Janice Frock, Christina Ward, and Bill Thomas.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Matthews; and her sister, Gladys Laird.

Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Jack "Tad" Maroon will be Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be one hour prior.  Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
