ELVA M. PARKS, 92, of Crisfield, died Monday, December 28, 2009 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.
Born December 5, 1917 in Crisfield, she was a daughter of the late Elmer A. and Sadie Switzer Matthews. Her husband, Merrill Parks, preceded her in death.
She was a seamstress, working at the former Crisfield Cap Factory. She also worked with her daughter at "The Red Barn" gift shop in Crisfield.
She was a member of the Crisfield First Baptist Church and the Women's Civic Club. She was very devoted to her family, and especially loved to spend time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
She is survived by two daughters, Winnie Pruitt and her husband Charles "Eugie" and Linda Paden, all of Crisfield; one sister, Mary Goldsborough of Crisfield; five grandchildren, Connie Gerald, Royce Pruitt and his wife Michelle, Robert Paden, Jr., Lorina Paden and Joey Paden, all of Crisfield; ten great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clifton Matthews; and two sisters, Doris Coefield and Sadie Bard.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Jack "Tad" Maroon will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
