Elsie Mae Tyler, 74, of Ewell, Smith Island, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Chespeake Woods Center in Cambridge, MD.
Born July 1, 1943 on Smith Island, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Essie Mae Evans Dize.
Elsie was a member of Ewell United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was active in United Methodist Women, and also served on the Ewell Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to cook and loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Lee Tyler of Ewell; children, Morgan Lee Tyler and wife Jill of Hebron, Paula K. Tyler of Cambridge, and Jonathan Tyler and wife Christi of Salisbury; step-children, Rebecca Rippons of Crisfield and Robert "Bobby" Tyler, Jr. of Baltimore; siblings, Bunk Evans of Crisfield, Edward Dize and wife Connie of Rhodes Point, Willis Dize and wife Debbie of Chincoteague, and Betty Ann Richardson and husband Kevin of Findlay, OH; grandchildren, Colleen, Scott, Austin, Caitlyn, Sarah, Tony, Joe, Toby, and Josh; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Lynette Ruth Dize, Margaret Thomas, Isaac Dize, Jr., Audrey Stevens, Mary Hexter, and Edward Dize; and a grandchild, Stephanie.
Viewings will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 10-11 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home and at Ewell United Methodist Church from 7-9 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 2 PM at Ewell U. M. Church. Services will be officiated by the Rev. Everett Landon and he will be assisted by the Rev. Jim Evans. Interment will follow in Ewell Church Cemetery.
There will be a special boat for funeral passengers, "Chelsea Lane", departing Somers Cove Marina Friday at 12 Noon and returning following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Ewell United Methodist Church or Ewell Volunteer Fire Department, both Ewell, MD 21824.
