ELSIE M. "SNOOKIE" WARD, 91, of Crisfield, died Monday, October 15, 2007 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield on May 21, 1916, she was a daughter of the late William Oscar and Nora B. Sterling Lawson. She worked in several former garment factories in Crisfield and retired as a textile technician at DuPont Chestnut Run Site in Wilmington, Delaware after 16 years of employment there.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield, the former Chesapeake Chapter #28 Order of Eastern Star, and the Manokin Chapter #109 Order of Eastern Star.

"Snookie" was a fun-loving and generous person with a great sense of humor; she was loved by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by four children, Jackie Lawson of Crisfield, Brenda Rooks and husband Larry of Bear, Delaware, Paul Ward, Jr. and wife Jeannie of Crisfield, and Jeannie Crockett of Crisfield; four grandchildren, Rick Schultz and wife Rose of Bear, Brent Linton and wife Michella of Bear, Scott Ward of Crisfield and Tracie Rooks of Middleton, Delaware; one brother, Weldon Lawson of Crisfield; 10 great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; two great-great-granddaughters; three nieces and their families; and four nephews and their families.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Ward; one brother, Vernon Lawson; and two grandsons, Greg Schultz and Jason Ward.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 19, 2007 at 1 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where and Eastern Star Service by Manokin Chapter #109 will begin the service. The Rev. Bob Daniels and Pastor Jeffrey James will officiate. There will be no public viewing. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery in Crisfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
