Elsie M. Gedman

Elsie M. Gedman (née Berrios), lovingly known as Aunt Elsie and Baccala #1, passed away on March 14, 2026, at Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield, MD, just days shy of her 95th birthday. She was born on March 18, 1931, in New York City, New York.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Gedman; her parents, Juan and Ana Berrios; her sisters Alicia Matherson, Miriam Skiba, Sonia Hunter, and Anna Young; her brother Victor Medina; and her nephews Jason and Larry, and niece Yolanda.

She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends who will forever cherish her.

Elsie lived with joy, humor, and an unmistakable spark. She loved taking cruises, dancing, playing cards, and going out to dinner. She had a gift for making people laugh and turning everyday moments into celebrations. She was deeply loved by all who knew her.

Perhaps, when thunderstorms roll in, we will smile and imagine the five baccala sisters reunited, rumbling together once again and lighting up the sky.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her memory by sharing a laugh, playing a game of cards, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, just as she always did.
