Elmer Lane III, affectionately known as "Buddy" and "Skeeter", died Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.  He was 84.

Born in Crisfield on April 23, 1937, he was a son of the late Elmer Lane, Jr. and Idella Davis Lane.  His wife, Audrey "Kay" Bradshaw Lane, preceded him in death on January 10, 2017.

He was a plumber until he was in his 50's then helped his wife at their flower shop Country Creations.

Buddy was a devoted member of Crisfield Wesleyan Church and enjoyed being active until he was no longer able.  He was also a life member of the Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department and he served in the National Guard.

He enjoyed making Smith Island cakes and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Lane Crockett and husband Dickie of Crisfield; three grandsons, Lane Parks, Dustin Parks and Chad Baker; two great-grandchildren, Bryant Parks and Lilah Parks; his dearest and devoted friend, Philip Widdowson of Princess Anne; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by an infant son, Elmer James Lane in 1971; a sister, Darlene Lane Handy; and a brother, Raleigh Lane.

A memorial service will be Sunday, January 9, 2022 at 2:30 PM at Crisfield Wesleyan Church.  Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate.
