ELLEN PETERSON McLANE, 93, of Crisfield, died Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Mallard Bay Nursing Home in Cambridge.

Born in Cambridge January 18, 1917, and raised in Aireys, MD, she was a daughter of the late Axel and Esther Clausen Peterson. Her husband of 55 years, James Wesley McLane, preceded her in death October 15, 1998.

Following her graduation from Cambridge High School in 1933, she moved to Crisfield and opened the former Vanity Box Beauty Shop. She was a beautician for more than 50 years.

She attended Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield and Friendship United Methodist Church in Aireys and also served on the Maryland Board of Cosmetology for many years. Her favorite pass-times were fishing and tending her garden.

She is survived by two sisters, Edna Lord of Laurel, DE and Betty Conkins of Crookston, Minnesota; and 13 nieces and nephews, Wayne Peterson and wife Karen of Cambridge, Brenda Slacum and husband Terry of Cambridge, Mary Lou Heintzelman and husband Don of Woolford, MD, Phil Travers of Wye Mills, Janice Baker and husband Vaughn of Seaford, Jennifer Pederson, Gary Conkins, Brian Conkins, Gregory Conkins, Barbara Anderson and Anmari Lentsch, all of Minnesota, Bruce Conkins of Richmond, VA and Jerome Conkins of TX.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Peterson; a sister, Lillian Travers; and a niece, Carol Ellingsworth.

Graveside funeral services and interment will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 2 PM at Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
