Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth Bounds Pruitt, 89, of Tangier Island, Virginia died on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at the Harrisonburg Health and Rehab Center in Harrisonburg, VA.

Born in West Point, Virginia on February 10, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Charles Milton and Mary Emma Wood Bounds. Her husband, Charlie W. Pruitt, died October 6, 1982.

Mrs. Pruitt was a graduate of West Point High School in West Point, Virginia, and Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia. She was a retired school teaching for many years at Tangier Combined School on Tangier Island. She was also a faithful member of Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Tangier Island, where she was organist for many years.

Mrs. Pruitt is survived by two sons, The Rev. Charles Edward Pruitt and his wife Portia of Harrisonburg, Virginia and Marion Frank Pruitt and his wife Marguerite of Indianapolis, Indiana; six grandchildren, Ed Pruitt, Jr., Frankie Pruitt, Gordon Pruitt, Chris Pruitt, Rebekah Sparks and Joshua Pruitt; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Bounds, and her sister.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at the Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Tangier where friends may call Saturday from 7-8:30 P.M. The Rev. John Jones will officiate, and will be assisted by several family members and speakers.

Arrangements are in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home, Crisfield.
