CRISFIELD
ELIZABETH NELSON OLSEN, of Crisfield, went to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, December 30, 2006. She was 81 years of age.
Born in Crisfield on her Mother's birthday, November 6, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Charles Christopher and Hattie Lawson Nelson. Her husband, Oscar Olsen died October 29, 1975.
A Crisfield High School class of 1942 graduate who received an excellence medal in shorthand, Mrs. Olsen was a retired bookkeeper for the former Milbourne Oyster Company in Crisfield and was a tax preparer for the former H & R Block in Crisfield. She was a perfectionist in everything she did.
She was a devoted member of the Evangelical Wesleyan Church in Crisfield where she loved to play her guitar and sing and was called on to preach many times. Mrs. Olsen also loved and was very faithful in her support to many other area churches.
She is survived by her brother, Ralph Nelson of Crisfield; her sister-in-law, Eldora Lane Nelson of Crisfield; her niece, Sheila Friedman and her family of Hockessin, Delaware; and her long-time close friends, Julia and Roy Figgs, and their family of Kingston.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Olsen was also preceded in death by a brother, John Earl Nelson; her sister, Cecile Mae Ford; and her special nephew, Ira "Yogi" Ford.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 2 PM at the Evangelical Wesleyan Church in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Terry Riggin will officiate. Pallbearers will be Roy Figgs, Sr., Roy Figgs, Jr., Chris Guy, David Dixon, George Nelson and Adam Stanley. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
