ELIZABETH HATHAWAY EDMONDSON, 80, of Crisfield, Maryland and formerly of Tarboro, North Carolina, died Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield. She had been residing in Crisfield with her nephew, Harvey Tyler for the past year.

Born in Tarboro on February 6, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Harvey Gaston Hathaway and Annie Cox Hathaway. Her husband, Ollin Harold Baxley, preceded her in death on November 21, 1973.

She was a sales clerk at Big Star in Charlotte, North Carolina and then at Thorne Drug Store in Tarboro where she worked 34 years.

She is survived by two sisters, Betty Tyler of Crisfield and Mae Ayers of Reidsville, North Carolina; and numerous special nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews in Maryland and North Carolina.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Horace Hathaway; and two sisters, Jeanette Watson and Doris Stroup.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 2 PM at New Grace Baptist Church in Tarboro where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Mike Barnette and Asher Daisey will officiate. Interment will follow in Edgecombe Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to a charity of choice.
