ELIZABETH VIRGINIA CHERRIX, 81, of Crisfield and formerly of Snow Hill, died Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.

She was born and raised in Snow Hill, a daughter of the late Levin Henry Kelly and Nellie Layfield Fitzsimmons. Her husband, Francis Henry Cherrix, preceded her in death in 1993. She had been making her home in Crisfield since 1990.

She was a retired cook, working 7 ½ years at the Worcester County Jail.
She was a member of Old School Baptist Church in Snow Hill. She was very devoted to her children and family.

She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Ann "Terry" Marshall and her husband Eddie, of Crisfield and Saxis, and Patty M. Malin and her husband Les of Crisfield; four grandchildren, George Marshall, Jr., and Richie Marshall, both of Saxis, and Adam Townsend and Lauren Townsend, both of Crisfield; a sister, Loretta Hill and her husband Richard of Westminster; a brother, Tommy Fitzsimmons and his wife Yvonna of Snow Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marion Kelly.

Friends may call Tuesday, August 23, 2011, from 6-8 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 1 PM at Bates Cemetery in Snow Hill with the Rev. Bob Daniels officiating.
