Obituary
ELEANOR G. WARD, 82, of Crisfield, died Friday, February 6, 2009 at Manokin Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Princess Anne.
Born in Crisfield on June 16, 1926, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Nancy L. Sterling Green. Her husband, Bert A. "Bunk" Ward, Sr., preceded her in death on February 21, 1973.
A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1945, she was a homemaker and retired cook at the former Aunt Em's Restaurant in Crisfield.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield where she was active in the Deborah Circle and the United Methodist Women and she was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary where she was a former treasurer. She also participated in the Foster Grandparent Program with Shore Up.
She enjoyed her Pinochle Club and crocheting; she was a great cook and a wonderful baker.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Webster and husband Eddie of Princess Anne; her brother, Rev. H. Sterling Green and wife Nettie of Rehobeth, DE; her close friend, Margaret Evans of Crisfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Bert A. Ward, Jr. on August 1, 1976; a daughter, Nancy E. Taylor on November 3, 1995; and her sisters, Elaine Poyner and Betty Maddox.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 12 Noon at Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield. The Rev.'s Jeff James and Tom Blakelock will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be sent to Asbury United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Beth Clough, P.O. Box 502, Crisfield, MD 21817 or Somerset Community Services, P.O. Box 18, Marion Station, MD 21838.
