ELEANOR RAE WALSTON, 88, of Crisfield, died Monday, February 16, 2009, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield on March 23, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Lena Dize Daugherty. Her husband, James Edward Walston, preceded her in death on July 3, 1959.

She was an aide at the MAC Center in Crisfield, from which she retired after 29 years.

A member of the Crisfield Church of God, she was very active in the church ministry. She enjoyed needlepoint, crossword puzzles, going to Wal-Mart, and going out to eat. She was very devoted to her family, and was loved by her family, friends and everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Rae Pruitt and husband, Vaughn, of Belle Haven, Virginia and Lena Kay Welch and companion, Richard Layton, of Crisfield; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Cullen of Marion, Vonda Kay Pruitt of Chincoteague, and Jamie Lynn Welch and Kristen Nicole Welch, both of Crisfield; her great-grandchildren, Owen William Balderson of Crisfield and Logan Brianne Somers of Marion; her special friends, Lucy and Gene Manning of Marion; and many other friends.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Maurice and Louis Daugherty, and Serena Price.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20, 2009 at 2 PM at the Crisfield Church of God. The Rev.'s LeBron Palmer, Harvey Tyler, and Philip Morris will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield. Friends may call Thursday evening from 7-9 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.
