Eleanor Ann Tawes, 77, of Crisfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at her home after a courageous eight year battle with cancer.
Born in Crisfield on January 18, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Charlton and Ethelyn Laird Marshall.
She taught first grade in the Somerset County School system for 23 years. She was active in her church, local charities, and many community organizations. Her passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, and spending time with her friends.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Marvin H. Tawes; three children, Craig Tawes, Kara Evans and her husband Ronnie, and Kay Tawes; six grandchildren, Ross Evans, Ryan Dodson and his wife Nicole, Dustin Tawes, Brooks Dodson, Alexander Tawes, and Rachael Evans; two great-grandchildren, Jason and Lane; and two sisters, Dolores Hinman and Nina Miles and her husband Glen; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Tull.
Funeral services officiated by Pastor Kim Gilson will be Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. There will be no public viewing, however, the family will receive friends from 12-2 PM. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
