Eldora E. Nelson, 88, of Crisfield, died Monday, January 30, 2012 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born in Crisfield on March 9, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Earley and Elizabeth Thomas Lane. Her husband, John "Earl" Nelson, died April 14, 2003.

She was a homemaker and a life-long member of the Crisfield Church of God. Affectionately known as "Dori", she prided herself on being the family babysitter. She truly loved all her nieces and nephews and it made her day when she was asked to babysit. She was a wonderful caregiver to all the children in her family, and towards the end, her doll babies. Dori's favorite answer to everything was "Yes indeedy!" She was also well-loved and well taken care of by the Tawes Nursing Home staff.

She is survived by her niece and caregiver, Joan Cloud and her husband Doug of Marion Station; niece, Debbie Wessells of Pocomoke; nephew, Bob Seyda and his wife Rori of New Orleans; nephew, David Seyda and his wife Eula of Florida; niece, Betty Landon of Kentucky; niece, Esther Hennessee and her husband Chuck of North Carolina; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews whom she considered her "children".

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Emily and Roy Platt, Mildred and Ralph Nelson, Hilda and Robert Seyda and Adele Lane; her nephews, Daniel Seyda and Richard Seyda; and a niece, Rachael Landon.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 1:30 PM at the Crisfield Church of God where friends may call from 1-1:30 PM. Interment will be private in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Crisfield Church of God VBS Fund, 134 Maryland Avenue, Crisfield, MD 21817.
