Elaine Townsend Marsh, 84, of Rhodes Point, Smith Island, died Monday, November 3, 2014 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born November 19, 1929 in Salisbury and raised in Shad Point, she was a daughter of the late Otis Lloyd and Maud Dykes Townsend. Her husband, Grayden M. Marsh, Sr., died December 22, 1993.

A homemaker, she was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church on Rhodes Point where she was active in the UMW. She loved knitting and crocheting and was excellent at both. She always enjoyed knitting blankets, hats, booties, mittens and sweaters for all the newborn babies on the Island and for anyone who asked.

She is survived by three children and their spouses, Karen and Rukie Dize of Fruitland, Grayden M., Jr. and Millie Marsh of Rhodes Point and Lisa and Eddie Evans of Ewell; a sister, Ruth Donoway of Salisbury; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Duane and Elaine Bell, George Allen and Jessica Bell, Pam and Lance White, Jill and Brian Holland, Miles Marsh, Angeline Marsh, Craig and Laura Evans, and Kaitlin Evans; five great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by two daughters, Joan Bell and Sylvia Nock; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where a viewing will be one hour prior. Pastors Rick Edmund and Carlo Leto will officiate. Interment will follow in Shad Point Cemetery.
