Edward Russell "Eddie Russ" Smith, 61, of Tylerton, Smith Island, died Friday, June 3, 2016 at the home of his step-daughter in Princess Anne.

Born October 30, 1954 in Crisfield and raised on Tylerton, he was a son of Allan and Hester Jones Smith of Tylerton.

He was a lifelong waterman, a member of Union U. M. Church, Tylerton Volunteer Fire Department, and the Maryland Watermen's Association. He loved crabbing, fishing, hunting, softball, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Allan and Hester Smith, he is survived by his wife of five years, Betty Smith of Crisfield; two sons, Daniel E. Smith of Tylerton, and Dustin E. Smith of Crisfield; three step-daughters, Dana Thomas of Baltimore, Lynn Taylor of Westover, and Beth Pruitt of Princess Anne; three grandchildren, Deacon Smith Hunter, Logan James Smith, and Dakota Stein; three step-grandchildren, Brooklyn Gannon, Brianna Bradford and Nicholas Bradford; a brother, Allan L. Smith of Tylerton; and two nephews, Lee Smith of Tylerton and Bobby Smith of Ewell.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rebecca Christine Smith on August 21, 2009.

Funeral services officiated by Pastors Rick Edmund and Jim Evans will be held Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 2 PM at Union U. M. Church on Tylerton. A viewing will be Wednesday from 7-9PM at the church. Interment will be in Union Church Cemetery.

Special boats for funeral passengers, Capt. Jason II and Bay Eagle, will depart the Crisfield City dock at 12:30 and return following the funeral service.
