EDNA VIRGINIA LAWSON PINTO, 92, of Crisfield, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Manokin Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Princess Anne where she had been a resident for the past two years.

Born in Crisfield on December 15, 1915, she was the daughter of the late John N. and Daisey Lee Sterling Lawson. Her husband, Charles Bradshaw Pinto died January 26, 1994.

Valedictorian of Crisfield High School's class of 1933, she was a homemaker for many years, and when her children finished school, she became a nursing assistant working at McCready Memorial Hospital for more than 15 years.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield where she served several times as President of the United Methodist Women, was Circle Leader, served on several committees, and served as Communion Steward for 20 years. She was also a member of the Crisfield AARP.

Surviving are three children, Patricia Pinto Tawes and husband, George, and Joseph H. Pinto, all of Crisfield, and Ella Sue Pinto Emerson of Crofton, Maryland; one grandson, Charles Christopher Emerson of Baltimore; one cousin, Maxine Lawson Ward of Crisfield; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Nelson and John E. "Jack" Lawson, and two nieces, Jane Lawson Tawes and Janet Lawson Thomas.

A graveside funeral service and interment will be held Monday, November 3, 2008 at 11 AM at Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield. Father David Michaud will officiate. There will be no viewing.
