Earl W. "Buster" Nelson, Jr., 91, of Crisfield, died Monday, June 16, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Crisfield July 26, 1922, he was a son of the late Earl W. Nelson, Sr. and Virginia Nelson Sterling.
A US Army Air Force veteran of World War II, he was a Bridge Tender of the Hanover Street Bridge for many years and was a welder for the former Wayne Pump before he retired.
He attended the Crisfield Wesleyan Church and was a member of the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion in Crisfield. He loved music, playing the guitar, working on the water, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by a son, Bucky Nelson and wife, Fatina, of New Cumberland, PA; a granddaughter, Cary M. Pranaitis; a great-grandson, Tristan; three sisters, Rosalyn, Iris Justice of Crisfield, and Susan Powell of Crisfield; a brother, Martin Sterling of Puerto Rico; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ephriam and Leroy "Barney" Riggin.
A graveside funeral service and interment with military honors will be Friday, June 20, 2014 at 12 Noon at the American Legion Cemetery in Crisfield. Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate.
