CRISFIELD:
Dorothy G. Tyler, 89, of Crisfield, was called home to live with the Angels on Saturday, November 25, 2006 from McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.
Born August 13, 1917 at Ewell, Smith Island, she was the daughter of the late John Tawes Tyler and Ella Dorothy Evans Tyler. The love of her life, Lloyd S. Tyler, Jr., to whom she was married for 51 years, died November 6, 1987.
She was a faithful member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church where she was in the Pollyanna Sunday School Class, Circle # 4, and was a former Mother of the Year. Dorothy loved listening to music, especially southern gospel, Christmas music, and patriotic songs. She loved her God, her church, and her family. A wonderful homemaker, she enjoyed baking her famous orange, pineapple, and chocolate Smith Island cakes. Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting her pineapple-patterned afghans, playing piano, and gardening. There were always stray cats around that she would feed and give shelter to in bad weather. In recent years, she enjoyed going to dinner with her family. Dorothy was loved by everyone who met her because of her kind and gentle nature.
Surviving is a son, Lloyd S. Tyler, III and wife Jolene, and a daughter, Mae Crockett and husband, Jack, all of Crisfield. Grandchildren, whom she loved and cherished, are Peter Lloyd Tyler and wife/ Teresa, Maria Wilke, Lourdes "Louie" Massey and husband, Will, Sterling "Stacey" Clough, Jr. and wife Mimer, Michael James Clough and wife, Lori, Anita Mikula Smith and husband, Jeff, Lloyd "Skip" Tyler, IV and wife, Andi-Kay, and Olivia Grace Tyler. There are numerous great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, O. Cranston Tyler, daughter-in-law, Lourdes Tyler, daughter, A. Jeanette Mikula, son-in-law, Francis P. Mikula, and brothers, Norman T. Tyler and John "Nig" Tyler.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the Immanuel Church with Pastor Bill Davis, Pastor Bill S. Wilson and Patsy Maroon officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. Friends may call Monday from 7-9 P.M. at the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.
