Dorothy Anne Pember, 91, of Crisfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke.
Born in St. Louis, MO on February 25, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Robert Clay and Christine Schnaupaus Risner. Her husband of 67 years, Harold Hamlin Pember, preceded her in death on December 3, 2015.
Dorothy was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and was employed at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore as a Marine Biologist. In her earlier years, she owned and operated her own clothing store. She valued education and always encouraged her children to be successful. She was a gentle, loving person who enjoyed family vacations and long road trips, and was an avid reader. She was well known for her love of animals and rescuing them whenever needed.
She is survived by her four children, David Pember (Margaret), Elizabeth Miller (Phil), Theresa Fantazier (John), and Brian Pember (Diane); her grandchildren, Lauren Letterio, Erick Pember, Karen Hagstrom, and Brian Pember, Jr., two great-grandchildren, Nicholes and Noelle; and special friend and caregiver, Gerardo Alcira.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
