Obituary

Dorothy Long Marshall, 94, of Marion Station, MD, died Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the home of her son, Philip Marshall.

Born in Marion Station December 21, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Upshur and Zola Bell Johnson Long.  Her husband, Percy M. Marshall, died November 6, 1983.

A graduate of Marion High School, she attended and graduated from Towson State Teachers College and taught school on Smith Island.  She later purchased land in 1948 with her husband and they started Marshall's Seafood on the Big Annemessex River.  She was also a farmer.

A lifetime member of Marion Baptist Church, she enjoyed her animals and birds, church activities, gardening, and cooking.  She liked to work with the public and tending to the family crabbing business.

She is survived by her children, Percy Philip Marshall and wife Donna, David Marshall and wife Christine, Juanita Laird, Timothy Marshall, Cheryl Carman, and Jimmy Marshall; grandchildren, Nicole Dorsey, Kimberly Boston, Patrick Parks, Eric Parks, Jason Cullen, Jessica Cullen, Kristen Trinh, Tyler Marshall, John Marshall, David Marshall, Shelly Marshall, Carol Marshall, JoAnn Marshall, Devin Marshall, Stacey Diggs, and Stephen Diggs; daughter-in-law, Wanda Marshall; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and over 100 foster children.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, John Upshur Marshall and Percy Miles Marshall, Jr.; a grandson, Joshua Marshall; and three brothers.

The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers, Lavinia Hammonds, Angela Brown, Amber Ayers, Annette Payne, and her Coastal Hospice Nurses.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 1 PM at Marion Baptist Church.  Rev. Joe Barnes will officiate. A graveside will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Marion Baptist Church, 5833 Crisfield Highway, Marion Station, MD 21838.
