DORIS LOUISE DAUGHERTY, 88, of Berlin and formerly of Crisfield and Rockville, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She had been a resident of Gull Creek Assisted Living in Berlin.
Born in Crisfield on June 8, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Hazel Nelson Riggin.
She was a nurse's aid working at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC for more than 27 years.
She was a member of Rockville Christian Church and was a former member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield. She was currently attending the Community Church in Berlin. She enjoyed volunteering at the thrift store at Gull Creek to help raise money for the charity's GOLD and Believe in Tomorrow's House By the Sea.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Crockett Stevens and her husband Paul of Berlin; three grandsons and their wives, David and Heather Stevens, Douglas and Michelle Stevens, and Donald and Andrea Stevens; and eight great-grandchildren, Cole, Austin, Chase, Shea, Michael, Andrew, William and Samantha Stevens.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, William R. Hudson in 1972, and Louis Daugherty in 1985; her son, William Edward Hudson in 1974; and her sister, Alice Smith in 2009.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 1 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. Interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery.
