Donald Alan Benson, 85, of Summerfield, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

Don was born in East Los Angeles, California on July 26, 1939.  He was the son of the late Ethel and Carl Benson.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janice Camp Benson.

He graduated from high school in Delta, Utah in 1958.  He was a sailor in the US Navy for three years.  After being discharged from the service, he worked at the Army Depot in Tooele, Utah as a Supervisor of Supply Maintenance.  He retired in April of 1993.

After retirement Don enjoyed helping his family, neighbors and friends.  He was a multi-talented man who could do electrical work, plumbing, install repair and build anything.

In addition to his wife, Jayne, he is survived by daughter, Donna Avison; son, Derek Benson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He also has a sister, Sandy Davis.

His brother, Gene Benson, preceded him in death.

A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 11 AM at First Baptist Cemetery in Pocomoke City, MD.
