TANGIER ISLAND, VIRGINIA

DOLLIE B. PRUITT, 89, of Tangier Island, died Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield, Maryland.

Born in Portsmouth, Virginia on May 11, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Annie Angle. Her husband, John Insley Pruitt, died February 24, 1983.

She was a homemaker and a member of Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Tangier Island. She was also a member of the former Daughters of the American Revolution on Tangier. She was a very dedicated and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, Roland W. Pruitt of Tangier Island and John I. Pruitt and his wife Judy of Suffolk, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Philip "Nanner" Pruitt of Westover, Maryland, Cindy Parks of Tangier Island, Todd Pruitt of Suffolk, Lori Pruitt of Baltimore, Maryland, Tina Pruitt of Crisfield, Mark Pruitt of Crisfield and Lisa Pruitt of Crisfield; and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Philip M. Pruitt in 1970; two brothers, Charles and Norris Angle; and a granddaughter, Diane Pruitt.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 26, 2006 at 2 PM at Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Tangier Island. The Rev. John Jones and Mrs. Jean Crockett will officiate. Friends may call at the church Saturday evening from 7-9 PM. Interment will be in the Pruitt Family Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted, however, the family urges memorial contributions to be made to Swain Memorial United Methodist Church Health and Welfare Fund, P.O. Box 199, Tangier, Virginia 23440 or Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home, 201 Hall Highway, Crisfield, Maryland 21817.
