DENISE HOPE CHELTON, 57, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, June 28, 2010, peacefully at her home following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Crisfield February 10, 1953, she was a daughter of Maureen Sterling Ward of Salisbury and the late Jerry Tyler.
A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1971, she was a graduate of Mt. Sinai Nursing School in Towson and constantly pursued further education in her nursing career.
She was an excellent, dedicated, and hard-working nurse, working first at the former Peninsula General Hospital in Salisbury for several years, then at Deer's Head Hospital Center for 24 years, and finally returned to Peninsula Regional Medical Center until her illness in 2002.
She enjoyed cooking, working in her rose gardens, and playing piano. She was also a loved and devoted mother and "Mi-Mi". She loved spending time with her daughters and grandkids, and also looked forward to having lunch with her girlfriends.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Guy Chelton of Salisbury; her mother, Maureen Sterling Ward of Salisbury; two daughters, Jessica Hope Cook and her husband Chuck, and their children, Aidan Richard Cook and Ryan Elizabeth Cook of Salisbury, and Melissa Anne Chelton and her fiancé Derick Cline, and their children, Peyton Marie Cline and Reagan Hope Cline of Salisbury; her mother-in-law, Doris Carmine Chelton of Salisbury; her pet dog, "Bogey"; and one additional grandson on the way.
Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Grover Richard Ward.
Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 AM at Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield. Pastor's Stephen Willing and Sally Russum will officiate. Interment will follow in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.
