Obituary

Dema Rae Lankford, 76, of Crisfield, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.

Born in Tulsa, OK on September 18, 1946, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Naomi Raye Hill Lankford.

She was a 1964 graduate of Crisfield High School and went on to obtain an Applied Behavior Analysis Associate's Degree from Wor-Wic Community College, Bachelor of Science Degree from Salisbury State University (SU), and her Master of Distance Education Degree from University of Maryland University College (UMUC).

In her younger years she worked in office administration at Holsum Bakery until its closing and Carvel Hall until its closing.  Later she worked at PNC Bank, and she most recently retired from Somerset County Public Schools where she worked in office administration.

Dema was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and was a member of the Crisfield Elks Lodge #1044 Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. She was very artistic and enjoyed many types of arts and crafts including painting and stained glass. Dema loved her beloved dogs, and most of all loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Beth McCullough and husband Scott of Crisfield and Todd Andrew Lankford and his wife Dawn of Westover; siblings, Pam Hutchison and husband T.G. of Princess Anne and William Eugene "Billy" Lankford and wife Joanne of Marion; grandchildren, Allyson Rae McCullough, teaching abroad in Spain, Clair Marie McCullough, USAF stationed in Germany, Logan Renee Lankford, attending college at Salisbury University, Clinton Andrew Lankford of Westover, and Griffin William Lankford of Westover; uncle, Gene "Pooge" Hill of Tulsa, OK; aunt, Laura B. Kidd of Denver, CO; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank the second floor nursing staff and caregivers at Tawes for their exceptional care while she was there.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Lankford.

Funeral services at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at 2 PM with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Asbury Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be sent to Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home Activities Department, 201 Hall Highway, Crisfield, MD 21817 or to Somerset County Dog Control, 7922 Crisfield Highway, Westover, MD 21871.
