Dawn Elizabeth Souto-Coons

Dawn Elizabeth Souto-Coons, aged 67, of Westover, Maryland, and formerly of Tampa, Florida, and New Bedford, Massachusetts, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026, at her home.

Born on November 16, 1958, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Dawn was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Ferdinanda “Ferdy” Teles Souto. She had made her home in Maryland since 2009.

A proud US Navy veteran, Dawn embraced a career as a jeweler, most recently with Jared Jewelry Store. Earlier in her professional journey, she worked as a photographer for Eastman Kodak. Beyond her work life, Dawn had a passion for shopping and exploring the world. She traveled extensively, visiting beautiful destinations including Mexico, France, Egypt, and the Caribbean. Among all her journeys, Italy remained her favorite.

Dawn is lovingly remembered by her only child, Jade Souto Coons of Westover, and Jade’s fiancé, William Jones. She is also survived by her dear siblings: Patricia “Pat” Brown and husband David of Apollo Beach, Florida; Mark Souto and wife Laura of Acushnet, Massachusetts; Shawn Souto of New Bedford, Massachusetts; and Michelle Souto and partner Tim of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Her long-time best friend, Carol Thomas of Kent Island, Maryland, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins, also mourn her loss.

A memorial service to honor Dawn’s life will be held at a later date in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
