DAVID PRESTON THOMAS, SR., 64, of Fruitland and formerly of Crisfield and Grand Rapids, Michigan, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Crisfield on October 21, 1942, he was a son of the late Preston E. and Matilda K. McCready Thomas.
A very hard worker, Mr. Thomas was a self-employed fence contractor, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
An avid pool player, he participated in many statewide billiard tournaments. He enjoyed collecting antiques, and going on road trips and vacations with his brothers. He traveled all over the country, but especially loved going out west.
He is survived by his son, David Preston Thomas, Jr. and his wife Amanda of Sparta, Michigan; his daughter, Michelle Jonker and her husband Shane of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; seven grandchildren; 11 brothers and sisters, Joshua Thomas and Matilda "Tillie" Green, both of Cleveland, Tennessee, Paul Thomas of Parsonsburg, John Thomas of Fruitland, Naomi Carmine, Ruth Watson, Becky Evans, and Philip Thomas, all of Crisfield, James Thomas of Kingston, Jonathan Thomas of Salisbury and Presteen Thomas of Laurel, Delaware; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers, Margaret Thomas, Sarah Ann Doyle, Matilda Thomas, Preston Thomas, Jr. and Roy Thomas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. The Rev. Philip Morris and the Rev. Mark Landon will officiate. There will be no public viewing. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
