Cornelius "Glenn" Messick, III, 58, of Bivalve, left us to be with his heavenly father on Monday, February 8, 2016.
Born in Salisbury July 8, 1957 was the son of the late Cornelius G. Messick, Jr. who died in 2005 and Jean D. Griffin Messick who survives.
Glenn was the fifth generation owner and operator of Messick Funeral Home in Bivalve, MD which was established in 1859. He was also employed by Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, MD for many years.
He was a graduate of James M. Bennett High School and Catonsville Community College of Mortuary Science in Catonsville, MD.
Glenn was a life member of the Westside Vol. Fire Dept. for 36 years. He held previous positions as Asst. Chief, First Asst. Chief, engineer and EMS Lt. and currently was serving as EMS Capt. and was a current member of the Board of Directors.
Surviving besides his mother Jean is his son, Cornelius Glenn Messick, IV "Neil"; daughter, Dana Messick and her partner Michael Chevalier; granddaughters Lillian and Olivia Chevalier; a brother, Scott Messick and sisters, Andrea Disharoon and Sharon Causey; nephew Kyle Disharoon and wife Samantha; nieces Nicole Disharoon, Christy and Callie Causey. He is also survived by his dog and companion "Woody".
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Westside Vol. Fire Dept. in Bivalve. Officiating will be the Rev. James Riley of Hebron.
The family requests contributions in his memory be made to the Westside Vol. Fire Dept., 21045 Nanticoke Rd., Bivalve, MD 21814.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield, MD.
