CONSTANCE "CONNIE" TAWES OUTTEN, 75, of Old State Road in Crisfield, died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Manokin Manor Nursing Home in Princess Anne.
Born in Crisfield on November 30, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Travis and Maude Tawes. Her husband, Carl L. Outten, preceded her in death on December 28, 1998.
She was a hairdresser, working for her friend Ellen Holland at the former LaGirls, and later, she opened her own shop, the former Connie's Cut and Curl. She also co-owned with her husband the former Outten's Grocery.
She was a wife, mother, homemaker, and crafter. She enjoyed cooking, camping in Lancaster with her family, quilting, making cane chairs, and was a fantastic seamstress. She was a member of the Crisfield Church of God, and in her later years, attended Tabernacle Worship Center in Westover. She loved serving the Lord.
She is survived by a son, Les Outten and wife Barb of Crisfield; a daughter, Carla Lynn Wilson and husband Richard of Salisbury; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul and Millie Outten of Kingston, Earl Outten of Cambridge, Peggy Outten of Salisbury, and Burnice Brewer; her nephews, Phillip Wooster and wife Josie and Bobby Wooster and wife Louise, all of Crisfield; a special son-in-law, Randy Burke of Crisfield; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Ann Outten on September 10, 1958; her brothers, Clarence Tawes and Albert Tawes; her sister, Rebecca Tawes Wooster; and a niece, Peggy Wooster.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev.'s Philip Morris, LeBron Palmer and Greg Cox will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
