Obituary

Colleen Vaughn Sterling, 85, of Salisbury, died Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield on May 29, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Vaughn and Emma Landon Sterling. A graduate of Crisfield High School, she was a retired LPN working at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield and the former Springhill Nursing Home in Salisbury.

A member of the Crisfield Wesleyan Church, she loved cooking, reading the Bible, and was a very good self-taught piano player. She also donated to numerous charities that were very special to her including the Humane Society, Salvation Army, Feed the Children, and Disabled Veterans.

She is survived by two children, Darrell Landon and wife Cathie of Washington, DC and Carla Carter and husband Richard of Berlin; two sisters, Vonie Beety and husband Gil of Snow Hill and Maureen "Bowen" Ward of Salisbury; four grandchildren, Kristin DiCintio and husband Dennis of Fruitland, Kathryn Landon of Fairfax, VA, Suzanne Tromans and husband Phil of Fairfax, VA, and Stephanie Landon of Falls Church, VA; five great-grandchildren, Koby, Kiley and Karter DiCintio, and Josephine and Henry Tromans; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Ford; her husbands, Sidney Oscar Landon and "Bus" Sterling; and a niece.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Robert Daniels will officiate. Interment will follow in Crisfield Cemetery.
