Clarence Paul Howard, 71, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at his home.
Born in Crisfield on October 3, 1953, he was a son of the late Harold Timothy Howard and Maybelle Swift Howard.
Affectionately known as "Seaside Clyde", "Clyde" and "Big C.", he was a waterman and in his later years worked from 2001-2014 as a Correctional Officer at the Somerset County Detention Center, where he was Officer of the Year in 2003.
He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting (crossbow and rifle), fishing, doing yard work including cutting his grass and planting flowers with his wife. He also enjoyed woodworking and painting and was an avid NASCAR fan. He went to several races with his wife and the late Dale Earnhardt #3 was his favorite driver.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Dianna Ford Howard; daughters, Melissa Howard and Tracy Howard (Hank); a special grandson, Jason Borden; grandchildren, Nick Lewark, Avery Dixon, Kaylee Bedsworth and Brantley Bedsworth; a great-granddaughter, Maeves Monroe; step-son, former Marine Darrell "Rocky" Coccagna (Tasha) and their children, Helinah and Clarissa; brother, Dean Bozman; sisters, Terri Lynn Charnock and Elizabeth "Bump" Emely; a special nephew, Wayne Howard (Jennie) and their children, Megan, Wayne, Logan, and Shelbie; niece, Marie Howard Barton; his best friend, Sam Insley; good friends, Nancy and Eddie Johnson and Sterling Clough; great neighbors, Kenny and Julie Evans, Les and Rose Stream, and George and Myra Friedley; and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle who raised him, Ann and Terry Bozman; and a brother, Harold "Timmy" Howard, Jr.
Clarence lovingly donated his body to Anatomy Gifts to help others. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 2 PM at Christ Fellowship Bible Church, 5910 Crisfield Highway, Marion, MD 21838 where a visitation will be from 1-2 PM. Rev. Stephen S. Willing will officiate.
