Clarence Kay Evans, 77, of Ewell, Smith Island, went to his Heavenly home on Friday, October 2, 2015 from Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born on Ewell June 5, 1938, he was the son of the late Severn A. and Evelyn E. Evans.
A graduate of Crisfield High School, he was a US Army veteran and worked at Bayside Restaurant on Ewell. He was also the beloved organist for the churches of Smith Island for more than 50 years. Clarence Kay was always there to play for special services, Camp Meetings, holidays, weddings, funerals, choirs, and Island Quartets. His faithfulness to his church and community will be missed by all.
He is survived by his sister, Darlene Harrison and husband Ralph Ed of Ewell; a special daughter, Jenny Warren and husband Brian of Solomons Island, MD; his nieces and nephews, Cheryl Tull, Chris Parks and Paul Parks, all of Crisfield, and Charlene Abbott and Patty Lentine, both of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Suzanne Parks and her husband Johnnie Parks.
Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Rick Edmund will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 2 PM at Ewell U. M. Church. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. A special boat for funeral passengers will depart Somers Cove Marina Wednesday at 12 Noon and return after the services.
Viewings will be held Tuesday morning from 10-11 AM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield and Tuesday evening from 7-9 PM at the church on Ewell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ewell U. M. Church or Ewell Fire Department.
