Obituary

Clara Alverta Kriewald, 93, of Marion Station, died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield where she had been a resident for the past three years.

Born in Baltimore on October 19, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Mattie Cook Barrett. Her husband, William August Kriewald, died August 31, 2003.

A homemaker, she was a graduate of Southern High School in Baltimore. She also worked as a waitress, and at National Plastics.

She was a member of Marion Baptist Church. She loved all people, and was always helpful and very kind-hearted.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Thomas and husband William of Marion Station; two grandchildren, Kenneth Smith of Florida and Christopher Shannon Smith of California; a step-daughter, Sheri Thomas of Marion Station; six great-grandchildren, Jonathan Terry, Angela Smith, Joseph Smith, Destiny Thomas, Joshua Smith, and Robert Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Pauline Wentworth, Vera Davis, and Mark Shirley Barrett.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Tad Maroon will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery in Marion Station.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Road, Timonium, MD 21093.
