CHRISTOPHER C. OWENS, JR., 68, of Crisfield and formerly of Newark, Delaware, died Friday, August 13, 2010 at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.
Born in Crisfield September 28, 1941, he was a son of the late Christopher C. Owens, Sr. and Esther Elliott Owens.
A US Army veteran, he was an auto mechanic who enjoyed helping his neighbors and friends fix their cars and motorcycles. He also enjoyed working on his computer and building small model boats. He was one of the founding members of the local band "The Venturas".
He is survived by a son, Chris Owens of Crisfield; a daughter, Sheila James of Bivalve; a sister, Betty Bradshaw of Crisfield; a sister-in-law, Peggy Owens of Crisfield; four grandchildren, Bryant Owens of Crisfield, Christopher Owens of Princess Anne, Dylan Owens of Salisbury, and Tanner James of Bivalve; his former wife of 20 years, Maurlene Owens of Newark, DE; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arza Owens, and a brother-in-law, Robert H. Bradshaw, Sr.
Graveside memorial services and interment will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 11 AM at Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be sent to Tawes Nursing Home Building Fund, 201 Hall Highway, Crisfield, Maryland 21817.
