Charlotte Pruitt Parks, 83, of Tangier Island, passed away Monday, February 9, 2026 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury.
She was born on Tangier Island February 24, 1942, and was a daughter of the late Henry Smith Pruitt and Amy “Viola” Parks Pruitt.
A graduate of Tangier High School class of 1960, she was a homemaker and worked over the years in the seafood industry on Tangier. She also worked many years at her brothers sandwich shop “Double Six”.
Charlotte was a member of New Testament Church and was a former member of Swain Memorial Church. She was devoted in many capacities including singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. She was very knowledgeable and loved reading and studying the Bible. She also enjoyed sewing and cooking. Most of all, she loved her family and taking care of her husband.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ed Parks of Tangier; three children, Beth Thomas of Tangier, Edward Parks, Jr. and wife Bev of Tangier, and William Parks, III of Harrington, DE; seven grandchildren, Rudy “Tripp” Thomas, III and wife Alicia of Tangier, Courtney Ward and husband Keith of Crisfield, Brett Thomas and wife Elana of Tangier, Lindsay Photakos and husband Steve of Moseley, VA, Drew Parks of Moseley, VA, Lance Parks of Moseley, VA, and Schyler Parks of Nassawadox, VA; seven great-grandchildren, Lukas Thomas, Nelson Thomas, Nate Thomas, Kash Ward, Natalie Thomas, Mason Photakos, and Camden Photakos; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Rudy Thomas, Jr.; her sister and brother-in-law, Eldora and Donnie Crockett; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie A. and Jerry Pruitt and Larry and Janet Pruitt; and her sister-in-law, Gloria Howard and husband Jimmie Lee Howard.
A visitation and time of sharing will be Monday, February 16, 2026 from 6-8 PM at New Testament Church on Tangier. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 1:00 PM at New Testament Church on Tangier. Elder Duane Crockett will officiate. Interment will follow the service Tuesday at Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Testament Church or Tangier Vol. Fire Dept.; both Tangier, VA 23440.
