Obituary

Charles Winfred "Wimp" Corbin, 87, of Pocomoke City, died after a short illness at his home on the evening of December 26th.

Born June 16, 1928, he was the son of the late Hobson and Clara Sturgis Corbin. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Corbin Lindland.

He leaves behind a wife of 54 years, Betty; sons, Charles Duncan Corbin (Pat), and Paul Timothy Corbin (Mary Kay); a daughter, Emily Ellen Williamson; a step-son, Charles David Snead (Joanne); brothers, James and Marvin Corbin; a sister, Julia Ann Dickerson; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He graduated from Pocomoke High School in 1946, a class who still continues to meet once a year. He worked as a lineman for Delmarva Power Co., was a salesman for CK Duncan and Kellam Distributing Co., and was owner and salesman of Corbin's Meat Packing Co. He served in the US Army as a paratrooper during the Korean Conflict. He was member and past president of both the Kiwanis and Lions Clubs in Pocomoke, and was a former member of the American Legion Post#93, Pocomoke Elks Lodge, and Pocomoke Fire Department. He was also a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church where he served as usher.

In his younger years, he was catcher for Pocomoke in the Eastern Shore Baseball League and is remembered as such at the Delmarva Shorebirds Stadium. He was also inducted into the Eastern Shore Baseball Hall of Fame. He enjoyed golf and friendships at Winter Quarters and Nassawango Clubs. He also enjoyed immensely his morning visits to Hardee's to see his friends and learn what was happening in their lives.

A memorial service officiated by the Rev. Greg Powell will be held Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Pocomoke. Urn interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the interment in the church Parish House.
