Obituary

Charles Linwood "Sonny" Landon, Jr., 79, of Crisfield, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield April 2, 1939, he was a son of the late Charles Linwood "Suttag" Landon and Evelyn Frances Howard Landon.

A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1957, he was high scorer for the basketball team that won their first state championship that year.  He served in the Maryland Army National Guard from 1956-1964 and was a Maryland State Trooper from 1961-1968, retiring due to an injury he received on the job.  He was also owner of Landon's Flowers from 1970-1973.

Sonny loved the Lord and was a charter member of Faith Fellowship Assembly of God where he served in a number of capacities over the years including Deacon and congregational song leader.  He was active in his community, serving as one of the earlier youth leaders of the Salvation Army Youth Club, and he was also a talented woodworker/cabinet maker.  Most of all, Sonny loved his family and enjoyed quality time spent with them.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jo Lynn Howard Landon of Crisfield; two children, Joelle Landon Crockett and her husband Edward of Crisfield and Charles Linwood "Tag" Landon, III and his wife Katie of Pasadena, MD; five grandchildren, Drew Crockett and his wife Danielle, and  Josie Crockett, all of Crisfield, and Chase Landon, Burke Landon, and Riley Landon, all of Pasadena; his siblings, Rae Lewis of Milford, DE, and Jeannie Ward and her husband Paul, and Ricky Powell and his wife Rhonda, all of Crisfield; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 2 PM at Faith Fellowship Assembly of God in Crisfield where a visitation will be one hour prior.  Officiating will be Pastors Richard Bradford, Josh Humphreys, and Bob Daniels.  Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
