CHARLES L. "LINDY" CARMAN, 81, of Crisfield, died Friday, June 5, 2009 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield on June 16, 1927, he was the son of the late John William "Gilly" and Alma Somers Carman.

He was a waterman and a United States Navy veteran. He was also a member of the Watermen's Hall of Fame.

He had a great love of the water and enjoyed his work. He loved spending time with his family and he always had a smile on his face.

He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Norma Lee Wilson Carman of Crisfield; eight children, Charles L. "Lindy, Jr." Carman, Jr.(Linda) of Crisfield, Ronnie Lynn Carman(Cheryl) of Marion, Robin Morgan(Greg) of Shelltown, James M. "Jay" Carman of Crisfield, Lori Lynn Jones(David) of Crisfield, Lonnie Marie Diskin(David) of Parsonsburg, Holly Rae Kauffman(Wayne Foxwell) of Crisfield, and Heath Carman(Degi) of Crisfield; 22 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Bob Daniels will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
