Obituary

Charles Wesley "Charlie" Marsh, 82, of Crisfield, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 6, 2013 after a short battle with cancer. He died quietly at home surrounded by his family.

Born on Tylerton, Smith Island July 20, 1931, he was a son of the late Samuel B. and Amanda Jane Evans Marsh. His precious wife of 60 years, Frances Pruitt Marsh, preceded him in death March 23, 2013.

Charlie was a lifelong waterman, traveling his beloved Chesapeake Bay well into his 70's. He always gave credit to God for his safe keeping while on the water. Working on the water was his livelihood and he always was passionate about protecting and preserving his precious Chesapeake Bay. He was past-president of the Tangier Sound Waterman's Association serving as president from 1974-75 and was inducted into the Watermen's Hall of Fame in 2002.

A member of Faith Fellowship Assembly of God, Charlie held tightly to his faith which he willingly shared. He was able to share his faith with the youngest to the oldest of people in a way in which each would understand. For his family he led by example, having devotions each morning and at night, reading from the Bible to his children. This was a tradition that he continued up until a few days before his passing. Charlie was also well-known for his special sense of humor and was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Charlie is survived by his children, Cathy Marsh and Connie of Sykesville, Lori Jamison and Raph of Salisbury, Gayle Carey and Charlie of Delmar, and Chuck Marsh of Crisfield; seven grandchildren, Josh English, Amanda English, Aaron Carey, Charlie Carey, III, Chuck Taylor, Brad Taylor, and Buck Jamison; and many special nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Samuel P. Marsh; a grandson, Jordan Carey; and his siblings, William W. Clayton, Ruth Clayton Hall, Melvin Clayton, and Sylvia Marsh Taylor.

Funeral services will be Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 2 PM at Faith Fellowship Assembly of God in Crisfield where a viewing will be one hour prior. Pastors Matt Boldizsar and Steve Willing will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802-1733 or Faith Fellowship Assembly of God, 26950 Plantation Road, Crisfield, MD 21817.
